The best way to describe the new sound is "All Grown Up". Over the last year and a half, the band has been playing different styles of music and learning what really makes the sound of Smiley Died. There is no doubt that it's Smiley Died, and the new material has an obvious energy that it never had before. Matt, Jay, Jim, and Paul would like to thank many people for the support and appreciation for what we do. Smiley Died has played over 500 shows since the birth of the band back in 2001. The one thing that has stayed the same and will never change is Matt and Jim. It has been said that they are the best rhythm section around, and putting the sweet guitar playing of Jay on top gives this 3 piece a huge sound. The new material has been crafted from real events taken place in the lives of its members. Working with producer Rhonda Pitts of Lonesome Oak studios and KiJam records Artist Joe Pitts, SD was not going to settle for anything less than 110%. Pushing everyone's abilities, the finished product is something we are proud of. 2008 shows great promise with small US tours from LA, TX, Ga, Fl, Al, Ar, Ok, Tn, and Mo. The band is also working with promoters to take the band to Europe, once in January and the other scheduled for March.
